Adolescent Day Treatment

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Options for Adolescents

The Partial Hospitalization Program, sometimes referred to as “Day Treatment,” is designed for adolescents ages 12-17 who do not require a hospital setting but are still having some emotional or behavioral issues that need to be addressed more intensely than what can be provided in a traditional outpatient setting. Participants attend PHP five days a week, participating in treatment and school at our facility, and return home in the evening. The program provides support for youth facing emotional or mental difficulties and/or substance misuse problems.

Partial Hospitalization Program

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed for adults and adolescents (ages 12-17) with primary psychiatric disorders who require intensive support and structure but not 24-hour inpatient care.

The program provides support and treatment for those facing emotional or mental difficulties, and who may have substance abuse problems. Partial hospitalization is an outpatient program for the diagnosis and/or active treatment of a serious mental disorder in a consistent, structured environment that allows patients to maintain their usual living arrangements with their families.

A PHP can function as a “step down” from hospitalization or a “step up” when outpatient treatment is not effectively meeting the patient’s needs. It is also a good transition from inpatient to outpatient care.

The level of care provided in a PHP is necessary to maintain the patient’s progress and prevent relapse or readmission to the hospital.

PHP is designed for those who do not require the intensity of a hospital setting but are still having some emotional or behavioral issues that need to be addressed more intensely than what can be provided in a traditional outpatient setting.

Adolescents attend PHP five days a week from 8:30am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday. Two hours of programming each day are dedicated to educational instruction provided by the Las Cruces Public School System.

The program will permit adolescents to continue earning school credit while focusing on their mental health. Strong academic support coupled with strong mental health will lead to success.

Transportation is provided to those who may need assistance.

Admission Criteria

Young people may require PHP when  experiencing an acute or chronic mental illness with an increasing level of acuity of any of the following symptoms:
