When you’re struggling with your mental health, it can feel like no one truly understands what you’re going through. You may feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn for support.
At Peak Behavioral Health in Santa Teresa, NM, we want you to know you’re not alone. We provide compassionate, comprehensive care for adolescents (ages 12-17), adults, and seniors throughout New Mexico, Texas, and surrounding communities who are facing psychiatric concerns or mental health crises.
Whether you’re coping with a new diagnosis or have been silently suffering for some time, our team is here to support you through every step of your journey. We begin discharge planning from day one, involving families or caregivers early in the process to ensure a strong foundation for long-term recovery and wellness.
We understand the courage it takes to seek help—and we offer personalized treatment options for a range of mental health conditions, including:
Anxiety Disorder
Anxiety disorders go far beyond temporary stress or worry. They can present as panic attacks, irrational fears, social avoidance, and even physical symptoms like rapid heart rate or difficulty breathing. At Peak Behavioral, we offer therapy, medication management, and structured support to help reduce anxiety, build resilience, and improve your overall sense of well-being.
Bipolar Disorder
Characterized by dramatic shifts in mood, energy, and behavior, bipolar disorder can be incredibly disruptive to daily life. Our team works closely with patients to stabilize mood swings, manage impulsive or risky behavior, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. With the right support and treatment, individuals with bipolar disorder can regain control and experience long-term stability.
Depression
Depression can feel like a heavy fog that won’t lift, sapping your energy, motivation, and joy. It may affect your ability to work, care for yourself, or maintain relationships. At Peak Behavioral, we use a combination of individual therapy, group counseling, and evidence-based treatment modalities to help you rediscover hope and move forward with confidence.
Suicidal Thoughts
If you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts, know that help is available—and it’s urgent. Suicidal ideation often signals an underlying mental health condition that requires immediate attention. NM Health reports that in New Mexico, suicide is a serious public health issue. In 2014, it was the eighth leading cause of death overall—and the second leading cause for those aged 10 to 39. Over the past 15 years, suicide rates have risen slightly, remaining at least 50% higher than the national average.
Peak Behavioral Health’s inpatient psychiatric care offers a safe, supportive environment to stabilize symptoms, ensure your safety, and begin the healing process. You are not alone, and your life matters.
Mental Health Therapy
Talk therapy is at the heart of what we do. Our licensed therapists work one-on-one and in group settings with patients to help them process their emotions, uncover patterns of thinking, and develop practical strategies to handle life’s challenges. Therapy helps you feel heard, validated, and empowered to take back control of your life.
Types of Comprehensive Care
At Peak Behavioral Health, we offer multiple levels of care to meet you exactly where you are in your journey. Our programs are designed to address a wide spectrum of psychiatric needs—ranging from acute crises to ongoing support—so you can access the right care at the right time.
Inpatient Psychiatric Program
Also referred to as acute care, our inpatient psychiatric program provides short-term, intensive treatment for adolescents (12+), adults, and seniors who are experiencing serious psychiatric or behavioral symptoms. This level of care is ideal for individuals who need 24-hour monitoring and support in a structured, therapeutic environment.
Whether you are experiencing a crisis or struggling with symptoms that have become unmanageable, our inpatient program provides the safe and supportive space you need to begin healing.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our outpatient day treatment, also known as PHP, is designed for individuals who need structured care but do not require 24-hour hospitalization. This program allows you to return home each evening while attending treatment five days per week for six hours a day.
PHP offers a balanced approach to recovery that includes:
- Intensive group therapy sessions
- Individual therapy as needed
- Psychiatric and medication evaluations
- Skill-building for emotional regulation, stress management, and communication
- A supportive peer environment to foster connection and reduce isolation
This level of care is ideal for those transitioning from inpatient care or those who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy can provide.
In addition, we offer an adolescent day treatment program for ages 12–17 who need more intensive care than outpatient therapy but don’t require hospitalization. Participants attend treatment and school on-site five days a week, returning home each evening. PHP helps teens manage emotional, behavioral, or substance use challenges in a structured, supportive setting.
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)
The ACT team model consists of 10 to 12 multidisciplinary behavioral health professionals—including psychiatrists, nurses, counselors, case managers, and social workers—who work collaboratively to provide recovery-focused care for adults living with severe mental illness. The goal of this program is to help individuals regain independence and reintegrate into their community during the recovery process.
